When I got an email advertising a clearance price on the Meade Deep Sky Imager for , I could not resist. This imager makes a great entry level camera for those beginning to experiment with astrophotography. My first night out with the camera, I was able to image close-ups of the moon, the Ring Nebula and the Pegasus Cluster. The software is reasonable to use, though there are quite a few concepts that browsing or reading the manual, or a third party tutorial can help tremendously. This is a color imager that uses a USB interface to connect to the computer. I found the supplied 6 ft. USB cable to be a bit on the short side, and will be replacing it with a longer cable. Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 – Web camera – color – audio – Hi-Speed USB Review
It turns out there are presently THREE Pro 9000 MODELS. Two bear the name “quickcam” and one is called “webcam”. These are the formal names used by LOGITECH – not by retailers like Amazon. The earliest quickcam model has a LOGITECH product code of 861464-000 (found on a tag on the USB cord). An upgrade to that model has a Product code of 860-000109. The latest upgrade carries the new name (WEBCAM) and has a product code of 860-000228. Note that these Product codes are NOT the ones found on the box.
