The filter is extremely effective – we are using it in a costal area where the tap water tends to have a metallic taste. The filter effectively removes that flavoring, leaving nuetral flavored water. It is, however, a definite challenge removing the old filter, even once the light cover and shelf are removed, it is still a pain to remove. However, once the fridge decides to reelease the old filter, the new is easily installed, the locked and unlocked indicators make aligning the filter a snap, and the successful seating has a tangible physical feel as well as a sound.
