Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000 Mac/Win USB Review

I just purchased this mouse for my new dell mini 1012. I couldn’t pass it up for being on sale for . I stuck the battery in and saw the mouse light up and then stuck the usb receiver in my mini which came with Windows 7 Starter. It immediately downloaded the drivers and my mouse was ready to use in less than three minutes. And after reading the reviews, I don’t think I’m missing out on much by not downloading the CD. I also find the mouse easy to use. It fits comfortably in my hand and I can use it sitting on the couch with my mini on my left lap and the mouse on my right The flashing of the usb receiver whenever I move the mouse is a bit annoying though.

Dead on Arrival – Ron –
What can I say? It arrived dead. I can also say this is the second
Microsoft mouse I received DOA, in a row. Looks like Microsoft is
using its customers as unpaid beta testers — at their expense (both
mice cost me to ship back — not to mention the long drives to the
FedEx depot).

I’ve had no trouble with this mouse once so ever. The side buttons are very customizable compared to other mice I’ve used. The range is great and some blocking the signal doesn’t matter at all, which was an issue with one of my previous mice. It’s a very comfortable fit in your hand and I love the design. Definitely buy.

The scrolling wheel froze and stalled from day one. The laser tracking only works on the non-shiny, matte finished, soft based surface of a good quality mouse pad. A hard surface causes many stalls and freezes while on a shiny surface cursor movement is all but impossible to achieve. Over time, the tracking has deteriorated to where, even on a good mouse pad, the the cursor stops on the screen frequently and can only be reactivated by lifting and replacing the mouse on the mouse pad, often multiple times. Trying to use this mouse for accurate work is a frustrating joke.

The price of this product has been reduced drastically since I purchased it less than one year ago but even at the current .98 it is no bargain.
