I’m not usually one to post reviews, but I feel the need to since the majority of the existing reviews are completely inaccurate.

BOTTOM LINE: This is an excellent laptop. HOWEVER, you’re going to need to format and install a fresh copy of Windows the moment that you unbox the product. When I turned it on for the first time, it was an absolute snail. I immediately formatted, threw on a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64, and proceeded to do a victory dance around the house. It’s smoking fast and runs just about anything and everything I throw at it. From just daily use all the way through web development and a light game here and there — this laptop won’t disappoint you.

I was and still am pleasantly surprised. I’d never been inclined to buy an Acer in the past, but I sure am happy that I did this go around.

My son saved up his money for this lap top.
It worked for 4 months, it will not even boot up.
It would help if we had a cd rom, but that quit working even before the hard drive gave up the ghost.

Acer Service Center wants this to be sent to them, premium shipping paid by consumer.
On top of the warranty.

My son did not even get 4 months of use out of this lap top, just be careful!!

The machine came with a certificate for Windows 7, which arrived after a phone call inquiring as to its whereabouts.
In the middle of the install which required the optical drive, the optical drive disappeared and the install was unable to continue.
Tech support promised to install Windows 7 if the machine was sent to them (at my expense – ) but returned it with the old Vista reloaded.

I am using this machine but cancelled the orders for the remaining 10 units and have told my people to never purchase an ACER product again.
