Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 Review

I bought the first one 6 months ago. It is still running strong, on the original batteries. Size is good. Does not have a HUGE wrist rest built in, which allows use in a keyboard drawer. This is not a MediaCenter keyboard, just a good everyday unit. Mouse works on any surface.
I bought the second one for use in the bedroom, where I have a laptop/dock connected to a flat panel tv. It works great at a distance of about 12 feet. Can now surf and watch HULU from bed without any problems. I have it running with Windows and Linux. Both were plug and play.

Logitech Cordless Desktop – Black Review

Got this at work because I LOATHE the dinky Apple keyboard with its spongy keys and one-button crappy mouse. Bad enough that it’s a #@!*ing Mac, but the keyboard and mouse were driving me nuts.
So went over to the nearest Wallyworld, and got this for a cool thirty bucks plus tax. Works wonderfully, as I’d expect from any Logitech product. Sure it’s not an aesthetic masterpiece exactly, and the keys do squeak sometimes, but hey anything is better than that Apple junk.
btw, even though on the box it said “Mac compatible,” the software on the CD does *not* fully work with the Mac. Not that I really care much about having programmable hotkeys or not, anyhow.

I bought this product (MS Keyboard Wireless 3000 v.2.0 + MS wireless mouse 5000) at a store, but decided to write a review in case it helps someone:
KeyboardPros:-Pleasing to touch, made with good quality black plastic for the keyboard. -Zoom buttons on the left that is really useful for zooming web pages or images-Keys have a very satisfying click to them, and are not noisy like the 80s IBM keyboards -Standard keyboard layout – with num.pad and standard cursor keys-There are a host of other keys above the function keys that are programmable, including volume, mute, and media players keys. I’ve never needed them
Cons:-Function keys are very small, and a ‘function lock’ key must be presses to enable their operation. when not enabled, these same keys are basically shortcuts for undo/redo, save, open etc.-The escape key is also very small, same size as the dual-use function …
