Razer Lycosa Programmable Backlit Gaming Keyboard Review

Razer Lycosa Programmable Backlit Gaming Keyboard
It looks amazing, feels even better. The rubber-coated keys are awesome. Once you use them, it’s hard to go back to standard keys. The keyboard is fairly quiet too, the keys also have good bounce back. The touch-pad menu is extremely easy to use, and the blue lighting is invaluable if you use your computer in the dark. It’s comfortable, affordable, stable, stylish, great buy overall.

Junk keyboard, don’t bother – Pondo – Arcata, CA United States
This keyboard is terrible. I’ve had so many different issues. Lets start with the big ones;

1) Random key malfunction. No repeatable pattern, sometimes its after one hour, sometimes after a day but a letter key will just stop working until you unplug the USB and re-plug it in. %^$^& it just happened to the “Y” key as I write this review. Absolute nonsense.

2) Audio controls simply don’t work. I’ve never successfully changed the volume, skipped a track, or play/stop a song in any music app I’ve tried.

3) Audio controls are so funked out I need to change the default media player to something I don’t have installed or I get bizarre behavior.

I do have a razer mouse that works great, but I would never buy another Razer product.

Buyer Beware!! – Jay – Evanston, Illinois
Out of the box the 6,7,8,9,0,u,i,o,p, and k keys DID NOT WORK. I went ahead and installed the latest drivers, but they STILL did not work. (I also tried using the individual key reset in the configuration tool.) At this point, I unplugged it, put it back in the box, and printed my Amazon.com return shipping label. Whether this problem can be fixed or not, I have no idea… But I’m not going to spend the time to try. Even .00 keyboards know that their keys should work! This device is obviously a piece of garbage. If this review doesn’t convince you, I’d recommend you do a Google search for “Tom’s Hardware Lycosa Keyboard.” Apparently, Razer has admitted to defects with a number of these keyboards. My serial number didn’t fall within what they admit, but I think they should go ahead and add it to their list. Even better, they should do the responsible thing and recall these keyboards once and for all. How did they even let these things leave the factory?

Please Be Aware! Or Try It For 30 Days – Zhenyu Sun – San Francisco
If you buy it, do not worry. You have 30 days to return this item. I believe your piece will most likely defect within one month.
The keyboard itself is good. Very comfortable to hit. Also, in my opinion, a stylish look. I love razer mouse, so I think it would be a good matching. And that is when I even replace my B&W MM-1 with a razer Mako speakers at I was disappointed and later returned.
I love razer, and I wish it would work as a normal keyboard does. However, this keyboard is very naughty. It touches itself! especially the media controls! It will give itself random commands, but seems like its own random command is not so smart or intelligent. I was using this on my Alienware Aurora desktop which had a 875w power support. Plus, yes, I connected both of the USB plug just to make sure it was powered. However, my poor Alienware Aurora desktop’s 875w power was just not enough. Do not get me wrong, if most of the laptop and desktop have a power that is over 875w, I would not give a one star to my loved razer.
Should I blame my desktop’s usb hub? or the keyboard?
