It really is. Although it’s very obvious (by both its girth and form), it’s definitely worth having if you’re a laptopper like me. I carry my laptop around campus all day (Toshiba Sat w/17″ screen – so it’s a chunker), and the weight issue isn’t *that* big of a deal.

Make sure that you *use* this battery. That is, don’t keep it plugged into your computer while on A/C or the battery will start to lose its potency. If you don’t like the idea of always running off the battery, you can simply pull it out and then plug into the wall. But, just remember that you’ve done this because if you’re like me, you probably have a “pack-up ritual.” Mine is that I set the computer to either shut off or hibernate, and, while it’s doing its thing, I pull out the A/C cord to stow it and the battery just takes over…if, that is, the sucker is connected to the laptop. Let’s just say, I made that mistake *once* and I want to save you from making it ever.

One tip: if you’re in the habit of taking your lappy out of its bag with one hand, don’t do it anymore or you’ll crack its cover! I have not done this but did come close, I think, so I just wanted to pass that along.
