Super-Capacity Li-ion Battery For Acer Aspire One series Review

When I first started looking at extended batteries for my Acer they were well over 0, so this is an incredible price for this battery, actually less than I would have paid if I had paid the difference for 6 cell battery when I got the computer new.

Depending on your settings, it will add a considerable amount of time to your computing on battery, but it also adds a considerable amount of weight. It’s not terrible, but you can definitely feel the difference.

The battery fits well and compliments the original design of the computer, but does add about an inch to the computer’s depth, restricts slightly the amount you can tilt the screen back and removes the gap between the screen and the computer, which made the original easy to carry around when open.

For work, I use my netbook a lot to check wireless signals, and I may use the original battery as I often have to hold hold the computer with one hand while I write with the other, but I’m looking forward to the extra time when traveling and flying.

If you need some extra computing time, almost double, the pros definitely outweigh the cons as it’s still easy to throw your netbook into your luggage or briefcase.

By the way, they do make a larger battery, but that one is even heavier and looks kinda weird.

6 Cells Battery for my Emachine netbook – Gary Fung – BROOKLYN, NY, US
It works. Now every charge will last 6 hours for me. That is great. Only thing is that it is a kind of tight when I install it in my netbook. Also the long rubber lining is on the top of the battery is kind of noticeable. The size is Ok even it stick out a little behind my computer. I will recommend it.

Didn’t work for long – K. Becker –
I ordered this battery in March 2010. It worked fine when I got it, but I only use the netbook while traveling, and as a very occasional backup to my home desktop. I end up using it maybe one weekend a month. The first trip I took with the new battery, the netbook worked fine. The second time I traveled with the new battery, the netbook malfunctioned. I’d start it up, and about 60 seconds later it would turn itself off. This was true whether I booted windows, or just sat in the BIOS, or booted to linux from a thumb drive. Removing/replacing the battery did not help. Running with it plugged in to the wall did not help.

I wasn’t sure what the problem was, and I found a great deal on a new netbook, so I ended up just replacing the whole thing. This weekend I finally found time to troubleshoot. I tried the new netbook’s battery in the old netbook, and the old netbook worked perfectly fine.

I notice that the fan comes on immediately with the new netbook’s stock Acer battery, but does not come on with this battery. I suspect the netbook turns off due to overheating. Perhaps the battery is reporting something incorrectly about its status, and this is why the fan doesn’t come on?

It worked fine at first, and it’s only been a few months, so why is it failing so soon? I think perhaps this battery is not super durable when being carried around. Or perhaps getting used only once a month or so, is bad for it.

At least I got it cheap. But I suppose you get what you pay for.

Also, note that while the pictures show a black shell, the battery you get is actually in a white shell. This is in the product description now. Don’t know if the description was updated since I ordered, or if I just didn’t see it. Anyway, it’s white. With six cells, not the nine that is in the tag suggestions.

I thought this was the super capacity battery with 9 cells but its only the 6 cell however cant complain about the life it lasts 4+ hours and it came in white which looks naff with a blue netbook.

Fast 3-day delivery by US Mail service. I conditioned the battery according to the instructions that came with my battery, and I’m seeing about 5 hrs and 42 mins battery power available on my netbook. I like it, and it is not so big as to interfere with the ergonomics of a small netbook. The back edge is only elevated about a quarter inch, and there is no issue with screen tilt at all.

I do have one complaint however, and that is with the paper label on the battery. This label is glued on but not very well. One edge of it scooted down upon inserting the battery and wadded up which make for a difficult fittment. I also discovered that some of the label adhesive had come off and made a sticky spot in my battery comparment too. Additionally one of the rubber feet on this battery came off and won’t stay on,..which makes my laptop a little wobbly.
