JVC Everio GZ-MG40 1.33 MP 20 GB Hard Disk Drive Camcorder w/15x Optical Zoom Review

JVC Everio GZ-MG40 1.33 MP 20 GB Hard Disk Drive Camcorder w/15x Optical Zoom
I like the record time of this camera. I bought this camera for my trip to Europe, and it was good. It's small, but powerful. I could record for days and then, before the film on my laptop landfill. I would always suggest a second battery, preferably 3 hours. The 5 hours is almost the same size of the camera, and made more difficult.

It was heavy, a case that is small enough, because there are still large enough to contain extra material such as batteries. I bought:CASE LOGIC TSC-Sports 4BLUE Homes compact camcorder. Nor is it like a camera bag that I think too much.

The software that comes, takes some 'getting used to, but I think it works well.
Registration Night is a bit 'grainy but not too bad. I like having a widescreen option. The stability of the software works well, shaking hands is greatly reduced.
I do not know how the image quality yet, but I have a 8MP camera separately.

Great while it lasted – Mark Feinberg – NYC
I bought this camera in December 2005, used to record the stages of my son, then 6 months. I ended up using it sparingly, since the battery would not use the battery faster, so that every time I went to use it, I had to remember to reload. But it is not uncommon with rechargeable batteries, so I'm used to.

The problem biggist 22 months after I (Halloween 2007) I bought the recording of my son for Halloween and got an error message that was"Lens Cap", even if the camera lens. With a little 'research online have come to discover that this is a problem with the CCD (image sensor, I think it was) and was a known problem with the JVC and JVC models was / repair unit numbers of certain substitution patterns. However, this model was not on the list, but I found dozens of messages online from people with the same problem with this camera. I managed to convince them to JVC, a free evaluation of supplyProblem (tyically fee $ 60). It 'was the optical block (which is a part of the CCD, so I'm not completely convinced that it was not long CCD). They cited more than $ 280 for repair. When I told them not to turn the unit back and when to send the repair is expensive, have now lowered the price to $ 190 – a bit 'hazy in my head. But I went ahead with the repair. I have not used the device repaired, but soon will be our second child is due in days.

I wouldAdvised to stay away from JVC as I do not feel I was dealt fairly evenly this way. Even if they did the trial, I think the problem with the CCD is something that should have completed at no cost, because this is a widespread problem was. And negotiations on the cost of repair is somewhat sketchy for a company the size of the JVC – I expect that from a local farmer. I expect to quote my JVC at the best price you can reach.

Good Quality for the price…. – All us – Lanai City, HI
This camera worked really well. I use it often in a high school basketball gym filming and lighting in the gym is not a problem and were very clear …

I wish it had a capacity for night vision … would be very low light conditions to help in situations … The zoom button is difficult to achieve when you have big hands … but not bad for me ..

Overall, a very good camera …

MY JVCEVERIO MG40 AS AN EXPERIENCED CAMERA USER. EVEN TOOK COURSE IN COLLEGE – LINDA BLOOM – NEW JERSEY
I give two points as I can not comment on my video quality. The camera is easy to adjust. It 's like all other cameras. The press on the camera is very difficult to read even with glasses. I'm not TECHNOPEASANT by all means. I read and read the instructions. I Can not Get to rewind the camera or playback. I called JVC. Yesterday I was waiting for 45 minutes If a woman picks up the phone, I said that! CALL BACK Tomorrow and slammed down the phone. I tried toHours pass today, even up to now to get the operator. No suck luck, JVC. CUSTOMER SERVICE is the second major consideration which can be immediately decide to buy an expensive product. HOW SERVICE without the customer transaction information we can help when needed. Think about it! Do not want!

works ok but… – David John Hemmer – Buffalo, NY
This camera is easy to use, but if it is switched on the camera images to a DVD, not so simple. Computer users are quite comfortable and experienced but not expert. The software is included instructions very inadequate. For example, is "never connect the camera to the computer while the camera is on. Later" does not always turn on the camera or connected with him on the computer. "Hmmm, makes it so terribly difficult to transfer files! An e-mail toJVC customer service and get no answer!

Then the file will be in multiple folders with strange names and extensions. The default file names are actually hexadecimal numbers! Good God! How about instead of the date and time?

It is unclear if I can only save the file. MOD and delete the rest or not. Then, when I burn the files on DVD are always jumps, though, when I play on my computer, they look great. Perhaps this is not the fault of the camera, may be my DVDcheap. Regardless, I find the camera again while on the TV and recording on VHS tape, I can not say anything! At this point I have many nice videos on my hard drive with strange names and I can not play DVDs on my TV!
