Vita-Mix 1319 Professional Series, Onyx Review
This blender beats the competition by a mile. There are several things that set it apart besides the power and design, which allows perfectly smooth smoothies, sauces and soups if you want them that way. I reviewed a previous model that is no longer available and notice there’s a new model out that doesn’t have the middle knob. While you’d still get the easy cleanup, power and reliability of the Vita-Mix, that knob (which is on this model) is something I really value because it allows you to change the speed by infinite degrees during processing.
I find this particularly important when processing hot liquids as you can get a wet ‘explosion’ if you try to start a blending process too fast, which causes the heat to suddenly expand the contents. I did this once with my small personal blender–bad idea. …

This thing tears through ANYTHING in just seconds. Cold food is luke warm in a minute, then steaming hot in 5. It could probably be used as a mulcher, and if it cost less i would try it. This thing roars. The 2+ hp motor is ridiculously strong. It has a 7 year warranty included, comes with several cookbooks full of recipes (one of them is a whole binder full) and an instructional dvd presented by Iron Chef Michael Symon in which he takes you through several recipes and tells you many features and instructions on care. This thing takes about 30 seconds to clean, by the way. Just fill it with hot water and a drop of dish soap, then turn it on for 30 seconds. I used to have a cheap blender I bought from a local retailer but I was always dissatisfied with the kind of juice it made. Blend tomatoes and it would leave out the seeds. One day I saw a demonstration of Vita-Mix 5000 Series blenders at a local show and was blown away. I bought one and what a world of difference it has made in my life. You can do practically anything with this blender from smoothie and hot soup to whole gran bread dough.
It is a versatile machine and very powerful. The only downside , if you can call it that, is that it is quite loud. You may not hear your phone ring when it is on but despite the noise I still think it merits 5 stars rating. They now have a newer version …
