Blendtec Home TB-621-20 1,560-Watt Total Blender, Black Review

Blendtec makes excellent products. I have owned this one (along with the 4 qt container as an extra) for a couple of months and have owned a Vitamix for about 7 or 8 years.
Both are great blenders. Comparison of differences:
1) Motor – Blendtec has a more powerful motor. Noticeably more powerful – 3 HP vs 2 HP.
2) Construction – Blendtec is not as substantial in construction. Vitamix feels more heavy-duty, and is heavier. Vitamix will not rock and shake as much. Both are made in the USA with BPA-free containers.
3) Noise level – I don’t notice that much difference. Maybe Blendtec is a bit louder, but it doesn’t bother me.
4) Controls – There are more controls on the Blendtec – slower/faster, pulse, and preprogrammed selections. For example: Smoothies is one of the preprogrammed selections. So this means the Blendtec will alter its speed on its own in order to make sure items get blended that might otherwise stay bouncing around on top. It is optimized for each setting. You can do the same thing manually with the Vitamix with the spin dial that controls speed. Physically the Vitamix manually spin dial is easier to use. The Blendtec has a digital counter to tell you how many times you have used it.
5) Warranty – the Vitamix warranty is longer – 7 years on ALL parts that can be extended to 10 for an extra cost. Blendtec is normally only 3, not including the containers. This can be extended to 7 at no extra cost if purchased at Costco. The Vitamix had to have its motor replaced once. They were happy to do it and paid for shipping BOTH ways. Customer service was excellent. I can’t evaluate this yet for the Blendtec since I haven’t had it long enough, but the warranty does not cover shipping both ways.
6) Height – the Blendtec is shorter and fits easily under the cabinets in the kitchen. The Vitamix, at 20.5 inches, does not.
7) Containers – Both are BPA-free. The design of the Blendtec containers, while less substantial, is better. Wider instead of taller, they are easier to clean and easier to get food out of. Plus, this design lends itself to better performance.
Performance – the Blendtec will spin and pulverize thicker food even when the Vitamix will sit there and spin with nothing moving on top. The Vitamix requires a bit more work in those cases. If the liquid is thinner, the Vitamix does not do this and spins fine. The Blendtec 4 qt 4 inch blade container is better in this regard even than the 3 qt 3 inch blade container. I don’t have to push the food down much at all with the Blendtec. However, with the bit of extra effort, the Vitamix will end up blending just as well as the Blendtec.
9) Splashing – the Blendtec definitely splashes food more in the container than the Vitamix. Be sure to keep that lid on the Blendtec.
10) Guarantee – The Vitamix accepts a return within 30 days and pay for your shipping back:
Vitamix says:
“You get FREE return shipping as part of the Vitamix 30-day NO-RISK trial. Call Vitamix at 1-800-848-2649 for a pre-paid return shipping label. Contact Customer Service at 1-800-848-2649 option #2 to receive a Return Authorization Number.”
Blendtec says this about their return policy:
“Any item purchased on [...] that is returned within 30 days of purchase is subject to inspection prior to a refund or credit being given. Shipping fees are non-refundable and in some cases a usage or restocking fee may apply. If a return is near the end of the 30-day satisfaction guarantee period, we ask that you please call a customer service representative so we can document what product is being returned. No refunds will be given after 30 days.”
I have enjoyed them both. Both are great products. I like the Blendtec a little better in terms of performance, but the Vitacost did a good job, too. Vitacost customer service was really excellent.

Blendtec Home TB-621-20 1,560-Watt Total Blender, Black Overview
When the blending button is pushed on the Smart-Touch technology digital touchpad, a preprogrammed cycle automatically speeds up and slows down to draw ingredients into the 29,000 rpm blade and thoroughly blend all the ingredients. It shuts off when the cycle is complete, so recipes will turn out perfect every time. The blending jar is our famous patented square jar design, just like our professional models used in U.S. coffee, juice, and restaurant chains, with a 64-ounce capacity and a one-year warranty. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Blendtec!! – K. Walker –
I couldn’t believe that I was spending so much money on a blender when I bought this, but I had to try it after hearing from several friends how great it is! They weren’t lying! I don’t know how I ever lived without my Blendtec! I use it multiple times a day for all sorts of foods and I have never had a smoothie so smooth at home as I do now! LOVE IT!
Great product!! Does everything I want it to. – Troy Howlett – Yukon, OK, US
I watched the Montel infomercial about a blender/emulsifier and thought it sounded great. When reviewing their product, I realized most people returned it due to inferior quality.
I then researched on the internet and realized it came down to Blendtec and Vitamix. Both received spectacular reviews, but I went with Blendtec because at the time QVC was selling it on FlexPay of 3 payments. With a product in the area of 0.00 that was great.
This product is incredible. I can throw whole fruits and vegetables right in without cutting into smaler pieces. Also ice and frozen foods are no problem. After using the Blendtec a few times you will know which type items go in the blender first and you will never have to stir or push down the food to get it to mix properly.
I have only had it about 10 days and have made several kinds of soup, smoothies, juices, and ice cream. For the first time in my life I am reaching and exceeding the recommended amount of servings of fruits and vegetables in My diet. Every morning I make a fruit smoothie and can put stuff like carrots, kale, spinach, broccoli, etc in it and only taste the fruit. An am taking fresh juice, home-made soup to work and loving it. Lost 4 pounds the first week and wasn’t really dieting, just adding real foods to my diet.
I would recommend this product to everyone (especially people who are really picky about fruits and vegetables, like me).
By far the best blender on the market, totally exceeded my expectations – David A. Leon – Los Angeles California
A couple of months ago, I decided I had had it with my cheap Cuisinart blender popping the top off the blender and spraying my kitchen. It was also woefully inadequate at blending the ingredients for bolognese sauce. I had to grind the vegetables for my bolognese sauce in my food processor, which left much to be desired.
After an extensive comparison of Vita-Mix and Blendtec, I decided I would go with the Blendtec. The greater wattage, the radically designed 4 inch blade, and the 96 ounce jar, and the sensor features were what sold me. To make a long story short, I love this blender. It totally exceeded my expectations, and I was expecting a whole lot for some 0.
This thing pulverizes whole grains into smooth flour in 50 seconds. It takes big chunks of onion, herbs, carrots, celery, mushroom, tomatoes, milk and red wine, bacon and grinds it into an absolutely smooth bolognese sauce in less than a minute. Of course, you can make all the Robeck’s smoothies you want by simply throwing in a few fruits & vegetables with some ice, and hitting button #2.
The most important fact I can give you is this: There is absolutely no need to tamp anything. The blender grinds smooth with no aid from you. You don’t need to shake the blender, or stir anything. It’s all done for you. I laugh at Vita-Mix people who have to tamp, stir, and shake their blenders to get results. Why did you spend 0 more just to get that pain in the @$$?
The other incredibly important point is that this is the sensor microwave of blenders. In the same way a sensor microwave intelligently monitors steam and smoke particles, this blender measures resistance to the grind. It automatically stops when the correct consistency is achieved. It will not blend forever, heating up your food with friction (unless you want it too). Generally, everything gets done perfectly in less than a minute.
Also, it never pops the top off or sprays your kitchen. The blade spins up intelligently, and does not create that surge which blasts the top off.
