Rome: The Complete Series [Blu-ray] Review
First saw this OnDemand, then bought it from Amazon and watched it again. Plan on enjoying Rome plenty of times more… This definitely takes some of the polish off of Rome in antiquity and puts the gut-wrenching, filthy, deceitful and complicated reality into a usually flawed and too-pretty history of a culture oft-misrepresented. HBO has really done a beautiful job of creating this compelling series. At times gut-wrenching and disturbing, and then at other times touching and wistful. Magnificent.
Rome: The Complete Series [Blu-ray] Overview
Four hundred years after the founding of the Republic, Rome is the wealthiest city in the world, a cosmopolitan metropolis of one million people, epicenter of a sprawling empire. Dead Snow [Blu-ray] Review
I saw the trailer for this film a long time ago and wanted to see it ever since. The film does live up to my expectations for the most part starting out with some atmosphere and getting more campy as the film progresses. Instead it leans a little towards a …

The Mask of Zorro [Blu-ray] Review
That this is the best Zorro presentation ever produced is likely not in dispute, until a superior production supercedes it, and I do love it. The producers are to be congratulated. However, the Blu-ray version, while of equal quality to a theater experience when viewed on a quality HD flat screen (I have the latest LG 37in 120Hz model), is not sufficiently improved over the DVD release, when played through an upconverting Blu-ray DVD player (as I have–a CDW top-rated model), to justify the cost of selling the DVD to acquire the Blu-ray. If you’re looking at a few dollars difference to get the Blu-ray over a first purchase of the lower priced, but only slightly lower quality DVD, then I say go for it. But if I could have previewed the Blu-ray before selling my DVD version to acquire it, …
