The Terminator [Blu-ray] Review
I just received this blu-ray from Amazon on February 14 2010.
This is a full high definition transfer in 1920×1080p with uncompressed audio. This blu-ray has been made from a re-mastered 2k source but not from a fully restored source. There is still a small amount of “dust or dirt” and a few small scratches but this film is still in excellent condition in my opinion.
Keep in mind this film was low budget, the film medium used was “rough grain” and that NO high-def transfer will ever yield a sharp and crystal clear image. A perfect example: The new Battlestar Galactica series was purposefully shot “grainy” and it will never look crystal clear in a high-def transfer.
This blu-ray version does have a few special features to include: 7 deleted scenesCreating The Terminator: Visual Effects and MusicTerminator: A Retrospective

Dead Calm [Blu-ray] Review
“Dead Calm”, released in 1989, is a film that is stunningly produced and is known for the outstanding performances by its lead actors, Nicole Kidman, Sam Neil, and Billy Zane. The plot deals with a couple (Kidman and Neil) who are vacationing on their boat after the death of their son. On that boat they pick up a drifter, played wonderfully by Billy Zane, who turns their life upside down. This couple must fight against this mysterious man in order to save their lives. It is actually the Kidman character who possesses the thirst for survival as it is she that does battle with the drifter who is revealed as a psycho. The movie was shot on the Great Barrier Reef and is known for its beautiful cinematography. The “Dead Calm” DVD comes in a double sided disc and includes chapter selection, the theatrical trailer, and subtitles …

The Killer [Blu-ray] Review
As one might have already gathered many complaints regarding the video and audio transfers of this particular release, please, oh reader, do not be completely disuaded from the actual film altogether. Though if the visual/audio is a significant aspect of your purchase, seek one of the other releases of this film; and by all means seek! And to the tech wizards who have layed out all of the wrongs of this release, please keep in mind there is a large demographic of moviegoers that have never watched nor heard of “The Killer”. Or John Woo. So this release, I feel, is a gracious gesture by Dragon Dynasty (although a sloppy one, I admit) to give us back a film that was almost impossible to find on retailer’s/renter’s shelves.
